New Uses for those “Clamshell” Plastic Produce Boxes

Here’s a great new use to allow you to recycle plastic produce boxes - you know those ones that they call “clamshells”?

Keep one by the kitchen sink to hold your steel wool and other scrubbing pads. You can cut the top off (at the hinge) if you like - but the bottom makes a perfect (and perfect-sized) holder for these scrubbies. The plastic won’t rust, and they have built in drainage holes!

We also use one of these boxes to hold avocado pits as we use and wash them in the kitchen. We go through a few a week and so it’s great to have a container right there at the sink into which we can toss the pits, and which will allow them to air dry.
